Ministry to the Maasai - The JESUS Film

A very effective way of attracting and bringing the Maasai to Jesus
Christ is through Film Ministry. The Maasai Evangelistic Association
and Life Ministry organisation work together to show The
JESUS Film in the Maasai language. We have seen many
Maasai becoming Christians as a result of coming to see the The
JESUS Film.
Part of the all-important follow-up for Maasai missions is to bring
more reality into the new believer's conscious experience.
Christian Film Ministry means taking good-quality Christian films
such as The Jesus Film to where the people live. As some of them
live in arid and semi-arid regions, this requires reliable transport,
projection facilities, and a film crew!
The Jesus Film
In
a recent mission to the Maasai in Maji Moto, a film crew from Life
Ministry, Nairobi, brought a projector and screen, a petrol-powered
generator, and The Jesus Film. The narrative is based on Matthew's
gospel, and relates some of the major events in the life of Jesus
Christ. Although originally filmed in Israel, The Jesus Film sound
track has been skilfully dubbed over in the Ki-Maasai language.
In remoter rural areas, The Jesus Film provides a powerful follow-up
to the evangelistic outreach. Many of these people have never seen
a film before, so the excitement is huge. Whenever a miracle happens,
there is spontaneous cheering and applause.
On the other hand, when something bad appeared to be happening
to Jesus, an excited onlooker threw his spear through the screen!
