Medical Services

In rural areas, it may be three days' walk to medical help, and therefore many people who are sick have no help; they just cannot make the journey. Unless voluntary organisations provide funding and facilities, people can be seriously ill for a long time, and many of them die. The Maasai Evangelistic Association helps by coordinating activities so that medical help can be provided where it is needed - out among the people.

Medical Clinic at Maji Moto, Narok District.

This clinic in Maji Moto was funded by overseas resources including churches and missionary organisations. Typically they employ one or more qualified nurses.

I am happy o let you know that the Naisoya Medical Clinic has opened its doors for medical services two months ago. It has been started by the Ministry of Health and is under the Narok District Hospital. The Government has posted a nurse who is working in the Clinic on a full time basis, paid and supervised by the Government. The Government has also supplied medicine to the clinic. General routine clinical care for the daily out patients is increasing with approximately 40 patients per day accessing medical services. Prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) coupled with children immunization clinics for under five are been successfully conducted.

Health Education
An important part of our ministry is to care for the health of individuals.

The desire of the Maasai Evangelistic Association is to try and meet the physical needs of the people as the Lord provides, through medical supervision, treatment and instruction.

We want to teach people about nutritional needs and feeding programs for children, along with general health education and provision of preventative medicine.

We want to bring essential health care closer to the Maasai people, to reduce health risks and loss of life because of the simple lack of medical facilities. In many areas, people travel long distances to get treatment, and because of the poor roads and lack of transport, many die on their way to hospital. Many expectant mothers deliver on their way to maternity wards that are far away.

Depending on availability of funds we build Medical Clinics in the most needy areas. Local health care will reduce child mortality rate, reduce death caused by snakebites, and caused by lack of drugs to treat sometimes simple illnesses.

We also mobilize the community to work alongside the Maasai Evangelistic Association in any initiated community project.
