Vision 2000 and Beyond
A WORD FROM M.E.A. EAST AFRICA DIRECTOR
Throughout the years, God has led Maasai Evangelistic Association
into the midst of many dark battles for the lost. However, God’s
faithfulness and love have never failed, and M.E.A is ready to face
the future with renewed faith and determination to complete the
tasks which the Lord has laid before us as we work hard through
the power of the Holy Spirit for reaching new heights in leading
the lost to Jesus throughout Maasailand in East Africa.
What you are about to read is our vision for the Maasai people
as we face the 21st century. “M.E.A VISION 2000 AND BEYOND”
reflects vision to see God’s purposes, faith to believe God’s
promises and courage to obey God’s commands. Pray as you read
– Pray that God will write a vision for His purposes on your
heart – pray that all M.E.A members and International representatives
will embrace “M.E.A VISION 2000 AND BEYOND”
Yours sincerely in Christ
Reverend David Ole Kereto
M.E.A EAST AFRICA DIRECTOR
WHAT IS M.E.A VISION 2000 AND BEYOND
It a declaration of opportunity – an opportunity to shoulder
our share of making disciples among the Maasai tribe in East Africa.
“M.E.A. VISION 2000 and BEYOND” CALLS FOR ACTION, DELIBERATE
SACRIFICIAL ACTION. In addition to that it is time for M.E.A to
continue taking mission and Evangelism more seriously. Therefore
M.E.A. VISION 2000 AND BEYOND IS LOOKING AHEAD to MOBILIZE (the
expansion of M.E.A is in direct proportion to its ability to mobilize
its total membership in constant, continuous propagation of the
Gospel), to EVANGELIZE (Evangelism is our Father’s chief concern
– Luke 15:7 - because of the vast numbers of lost people in
Maasailand, evangelism must be viewed as an urgent rescue operation),
to REVITALIZE (in this 21st Century the Church greatest need is
for revival. Only a REVITALIZED church can complete the task of
evangelism, in the 21st century).
M.E.A VISION 2000 AND BEYOND – PURPOSE
STATEMENT
Maasai Eevangelistic Association exists to evangelize the unreached
Maasai tribe through the word and deed in partnership with the Church.
Building upon that vision M.E.A consider the following seven ministries
as flowing out of the above purpose statement and will be reflected
in all M.E.A plans, schedules and budgets for the 21st century.
M.E.A VISION 2000 AND BEYOND – MINISTRIES
Prayer (Romans 12:12 “Devoted to Prayer”)
This ministry of prayer recognizes the need for out total dependence
on God and the spiritual nature of our work. It is our goal and
practice, to promote the ministry of prayer throughout our Mission.
Evangelism
The ministry of evangelism which recognizes the need for all to
repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
Discipleship
The ministry which recognizes the need for every convert to become
a mature follower of Jesus Christ.
Leadership development
The ministry which recognizes the need to train leaders
Church planting
The evangelistic ministry which recognizes the need to bring into
being congregation of believers for worship, fellowship, instruction
and witness.
Missions
The ministry which mobilizes and assist Maasai pastors and evangelists
towards open-air and person-to-person evangelism.
Compassion ministries
The ministry which recognizes the need to meet physical as well
as spiritual needs.
Note
Although we do not separate compassion ministries from the other
six items, we do wish to declare prayer, evangelism, discipleship,
leadership development, church planting and missions as priority
ministries. We believe that compassions ministries will flow. Naturally,
depending on specific areas, M.E.A. believes that spiritual and
physical ministries go hand-in-hand and cannot be separated if one
is to see lasting success.
